Good morning people who commit to the process and journey with God
Romans 8:5 NIV Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.
Sometimes we feel or wish we could read a scripture once, or pray a prayer once, and then we will always automatically live in accordance with the Spirit. There have been times when this has been my story.
Without discounting what the Holy Spirit can do in a moment (by no means), more often than not, living in accordance with the Spirit is a work that continues and deepens over time.
As I read this verse, I got a picture of attaching two things together with glue. You don’t put a drop of glue on something, and then they are instantly inseparable. Rather, the normal process is, you put a drop of glue on one piece, press the two pieces together and then clamp them together for a period of time until one piece is set on the other.
I believe the process is the same as we seek to live in accordance with the Holy Spirit. It takes time. It takes us being joined to and clamped together with Him, and it most definitely takes us setting our minds on God and His Word.
I encourage you to commit to the journey – the process is worth it.
