#327 – Avoid Quarrels

Good morning people of humility

It seems to be confession time for me in ‘Believing In You’! I’m reading through Proverbs and chapter after chapter reminds me of things I need to do better in. That’s ok because I know God points things out because He loves us. He knows we can’t change what we don’t know or what we aren’t mindful of. Proverbs is an excellent book of Wisdom and I encourage you to read it often. Here’s its word of wisdom for today.

Proverbs 13:10 Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is found in those who take advice.

Pride is ugly and very destructive yet it’s so often what motivates me in a conversation. I get frustrated and end up in a quarrel when I don’t get my own way. This especially happens in my family. Sometimes I’m a foolish man and I should keep my mouth shut and humble myself more. I don’t need to control the environment. I don’t need to have things done my way.

This scripture couldn’t be clearer. Wisdom is found in those who take advice. For me this means being open to another perspective and point of view. To me this is listening (there’s that word again!) and speaking less. To be honest, it’s more about learning and loving than controlling an environment.

Boy am I sure glad God is patient! How about you? Today is a new day. Today is a day we can walk in humility. Today is a day we can listen more than we talk. Today is a day where we can learn and love.
