Good morning teachable people
Proverbs 9:8-9 Do not rebuke a mocker or he will hate you; rebuke a wise man and he will love you. Instruct a wise man and he will be wiser still; teach a righteous man and he will add to his learning.
Are we teachable or stubborn and proud? When people show us a better way to go, when people love us enough to bring correction and rebuke, how do we respond?
Do we react against every person who dares to point out ways we can improve? Do we get angry at the person? Are we always defencsive?
Or do we focus on the issue and ask God to show us if a change needs to take place? Do we look at the motivation of the person who loves enough to make themselves uncomfortable in order to help us grow? Are we a mocker (a fool) or a teachable person?
Here’s the bottom line for me; if someone points out something I wasn’t aware of or I could do better in, I now have a chance to improve. Sure I have moments where I react but that’s only my pride speaking. I don’t want to be proud. I want to and need to be teachable. I want to get wisdom. I want to be a righteous man and add to my learning. I want to honour God and honour people. I will only do this if I am teachable. We should love those people who love us enough to bring instruction to our lives.
