Good morning loving people
1 Corinthians 13:1-3 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
This passage mentioned some fantastic spiritual gifts that are for the encouragement and blessing of the Church and the world. They include speaking in tongues, prophecy, wisdom and knowledge, mountain-moving faith, giving to the poor and martyrdom. This is quite an impressive list.
I also notice something else, a little word that appears four times. It is the word ‘if’. Most of us would think that by virtue of the fact we do these things, we are acting in love. This word ‘if’ clearly shows that we can be doing the right things but for the wrong reason. And look at the result
