#2940 – It’s Not Fatal

Good morning people who live in the forgiveness and grace of our loving Heavenly Father

Hebrews 10:26-27 (NIV) 26 If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.

This is a very important, and often misunderstood, passage of scripture. Some people have read this and it results in fear because they still have moments of struggle with giving into temptation. I had another man talk to me within the last couple of months who quoted this scripture with fear and condemnation, yet he passionately loves God.

It’s important to understand the word ‘deliberately’ that is used here. It means: ‘To sin wilfully as opposed to sin committed inconsiderately, and from ignorance or weakness.’

This is talking about people who know the truth and yet wilfully and fully reject it and reject God. This is not talking about people who love God and still struggle with giving into temptation.

Don’t let the enemy lie to you. If you feel the Holy Spirit prompting you when you sin and you ask Him to forgive you, this is not talking about you!

Together, let’s refuse to live in condemnation – God’s grace is greater!
