Good morning people who know they will never outgrow servant-hood

I love the richness of God’s Word, and His ability to speak many things from a single verse!!! I’ve just seen something else in this verse below:

2 Peter 1:1 (NIV) Simon Peter, a servant AND apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who through the righteousness of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours.

Peter was an incredibly influential man in the kingdom of God. He was one of the more senior apostles and he was a powerhouse spiritually.

Yet he knew that his Father had called him to be both an apostle and a servant at the same time. In fact, he even had a revelation that he was called to first be a servant, and second an apostle. Perhaps I could push it further and suggest that the ‘success’ of Peter’s apostleship was strengthened by his foundation of servant-hood.

We need leaders who are first and foremost servants today; people who love God and love people enough to give their best for them. It’s not about self-promotion and rising through the ranks. It’s about serving God and others.
