#2335 –Meet With God

Good morning people who hunger and thirst after time with God

Psalm 42:1-2 (NIV) As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for You, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?

“How much do you long for, thirst for and desire after God?”

The picture here is of a deer which desires water, knowing that without it, death awaits.

Pastor Russell Evans spoke an incredible message on this at PlanetShakers Awakening in April this year. In this message, he explained that an insufficiency of water for a deer will result in a loss of hearing, walking, seeing, memory and a dryness of mouth.

The same is true of Believers who do not drink enough of God’s presence. Our ability to hear God is diminished. Our ability to walk in righteousness is affected. Our ability to see as God sees is affected. We start to forget God’s benefits and blessings. And we cease to talk about the goodness of God to ourselves and to others.

In his message, Pastor Russell says, “We need to pant for God’s presence, not just a church service.” Oh how true this is!

I love the last part of this verse: ‘Where can I go and meet with God.”

My heart breaks as I type this. So many Christians have little or no hunger to actually meet with God. Sure they like to go to church (sometimes) and they may even fulfil the discipline of reading the Bible at times, but there is so much more…immeasurably more!!!

God, your God, your Best Friend, yearns to walk with you, to spend time with you, to talk to you, to hear from you, to lavish love on you, to positively overwhelm you with His goodness…

…”Will you set aside some time to meet with Him this week?”
