Good morning people who do what God says even when it doesn’t make sense

Matthew 1:20-21,24 (NIV) But after he had considered this (divorcing Mary quietly), an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.”… When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.

“What do we do when God speaks the impossible over us?”

I’m not sure a more unbelievable statement could be spoken over someone:“Your fiancé is pregnant by the Holy Spirit. It will be a son and He will save people from their sins.” It’s not something you hear every day.

But you and I have had naturally-impossible things spoken over us by God and others: We have been given authority over all the enemies power. We can do all things through Christ. We have been given everything we need for life and godliness. We can do what Jesus did and greater if we believe in Him. We have received every spiritual blessing in heavenly places in Christ…

…or perhaps for you, God has said something specific like: “I want you to write a book”. “I want you to start a business or an organisation”. “I want you to move to the ‘Mission Field’”. “I want you to leave your job and step out in faith for finances”. “I want you to lead a Life Group”. “I want you to give ‘them’ $1,000”…and the list goes on.

Joseph woke up and did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him.

“What do we do with what God says?”

“Do we ‘wake up’ and do it immediately, or do we delay and end up in disobedience?”
