#2297 – Life’s Rhythm

Good morning people who live a life worthy of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ

Psalm 106:3 (NIV) Blessed are those who act justly, who always do what is right.

“How is the rhythm of your life as a follower of Jesus Christ?”

In Christ, we are invited, instructed and empowered to act justly and do what is right all the time. The unlimited and overflowing grace of God is most evident in those people who walk in their ordained spiritual rhythm – this is grace.

As saints who are saved, sustained and empowered by God’s grace, we can live a victorious Christ-like life…all the time. In fact, we are called to live like Jesus (1 John 4:17).

As I say this, many of you feel defeated in your mind. Your thoughts are something like this: “I can’t live a sinless life Steve – nobody can. That’s very proud of you to even suggest that! Of course we will still sin this side of eternity!”

If you are thinking that, welcome to the club. I’m sure we all have had thoughts like that sometime or another. I have. I still have to overcome that way of thinking at times – especially when presented with the evidence of my life; I have sinned many times since being a follower of Jesus Christ, just like you have.

“But is it the evidence that we see – or the truth that we hear and hold on to – that is most powerful in our lives?”

The Bible tells us ‘We are those who are dead to sin; how can we live in it any longer?’ (Romans 6:2). The Bible tells us ‘When we are tempted’ (1 Corinthians 10:13) and ‘If we sin’ (1 John 2:1-2). The Bible tells us ‘Be holy even as God is holy‘ (1 Peter 1:13-16). The Bible tells us ‘His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.’ (2 Peter 1:3).

The truth, according to God’s Word is, we can live a life that always does what is right – that’s what the Bible says.

Maybe today we need to be ‘transformed by the renewing of our minds’ (Romans 12:2). Maybe we need to confess and believe what the Word of God says more than what our experiences and the evidence dictates. Maybe we are invited into a better life than we had previously imagined.

“What is the rhythm of your life?”

A VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: There is no place for condemnation in a Believer’s life (Romans 8:1, John 3:17). If you have sinned, meditate on and apply these verses (1 John 2:1-2, 1 John 1:9), then move forward with fresh faith in the truth.
