#2295 – Who God Is

Good morning people who are grateful for such a good God

Psalm 106:1 (NIV) Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.

We are instructed to “Praise the Lord” and “Give thanks to the Lord”.

I am sure that every one of us believes this is a good and reasonable thing to do as a Believer. But I have a question for us all today:

“Do we just praise the Lord and give thanks to God for what He does, or do we praise the Lord and give thanks to God for Who He is?”

Many times, our praise to God and our giving of thanks to Him, is in response to what He has done. This is a great thing to do! Our gratitude pleases God, as it did when the one leper returned to thank Jesus for healing him.

But if this is the only thing, or even the main thing, that produces gratitude from us, it is lacking. The problem with this is, sometimes we don’t see the good things that God is doing (I believe this is because we are not looking for them – but that’s a thought for another time).

“So if we don’t see what God is doing, does our gratitude stop?”

Our greatest gratitude should be for Who God is! When it is, we will overflow with praise even when we don’t see what He is doing.

The writer of this Psalm tells us two incredibly wonderful things about our God: He is good and His love endures forever.

I encourage us all to meditate on these two things today, and as a result, may our praise to God and our gratitude to Him overflow.
