#2221 – Continual Communication

Good morning people who look for God in His Word

Colossians 4:2 (NIV) Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

As we read this verse, our thoughts are often: “I must pray more!”

Permit me to look for what this verse declares about our incredible God.

This is an invitation from our infinite God Who is all-knowing to talk to Him always; ‘devote yourselves to prayer’. There is not a situation in our lives that He is not interested in, because He is interested in us. There is not a challenge in our lives that God does not have an answer for, because He is all-knowing. There is not a concern that God does not want to walk through with us, because He promises to walk with us through the valley of the shadow of death.

God is interested in every part of our lives. And so He invites us to devote ourselves to continual communication with Him. This says more about God’s heart for us than what He requires from us!

And then it mentions being ‘watchful and thankful’.

As I read this through the lens of looking at what it reveals about God Himself, this is what I felt:

As we continually communicate with God in prayer, we will have many opportunities to watch what God is doing! Oh it really is true that it is impossible for God to do nothing! He is always working in response to Christ-focused prayers!

The result of seeing what God is doing is thankfulness! Oh how our hearts overflow with gratitude as we acknowledge God in all of our ways and then see what He is doing!
