#2220 – Right And Fair

Good morning people who walk with a trust-worthy God

Colossians 4:1 (NIV) Masters, provide your slaves with what is right and fair, because you know that you also have a Master in heaven.

Sometimes we look at a verse like this and focus on our need to be right and fair as employers, pastors and leaders. This is a great application and I fully agree with it.

But there is a greater truth, a deeper truth that we often miss. Here it is: Our God is right and fair.

Everything God does is just and true. He doesn’t give people leftovers, take short-cuts or try to get away with the bare minimum. Everything God does is the best.

In our lives, God is doing a good work. He is working all things together for our good. God start things, sustains things and completes things. He is faithful and He is trust-worthy.

“But Steve, what about the times when it looks like God is not good or He is not working for my good?”

As a Believer who has walked with God for nearly 40 years, I admit there have been many times when circumstances and events would try to make me doubt God’s goodness.

But I have honestly settled at a place of confidence. This confidence is not in my ability to understand everything that happens or everything God does or does not do. The truth is, nobody understands all of God’s ways. And this is my confidence: I don’t understand, but that doesn’t change God’s nature! My limited perspective doesn’t change God’s sovereignty.

So permit me to conclude today by stating again: God is always right and fair – always. You can trust Him. Now that’s good news!
