Good morning people who listen to the wisdom and instructions of God
Yesterday I said the following: The people of God (the people of praise) were marrying people who lived selfish spoiled lives, people who were tribal (it was all about them), and people who had no relationship with The Father. This is a recipe for disaster!
Now let’s read a couple more verses.
Nehemiah 13:26-27 (NIV) Was it not because of marriages like these that Solomon king of Israel sinned? Among the many nations there was no king like him. He was loved by his God, and God made him king over all Israel, but even he was led into sin by foreign women. Must we hear now that you too are doing all this terrible wickedness and are being unfaithful to our God by marrying foreign women?
Firstly let me make it clear: ‘Foreign’ in this context is not talking geographically, but it means ‘of a foreign or different belief system, a stranger in various degrees and applications’.
If you are a follower of Christ – one anointed and called to praise God with your life – you will be led astray if you start pursuing a romantic relationship with someone who is not walking with God.
I hear you say, “Not me Steve, I’m going to win them to Christ!”
Respectfully, even if God in His merciful goodness does draw them to Himself, you are still acting unwisely. Please don’t get upset at me, I am compelled to speak the truth in a time when ‘anything goes’.
God’s way is always best, and the reason He instructs us to be connected with another Christian is because He wants the best for you.
“Are your relationships honouring God and taking you deeper in relationship with Him? Are your relationships empowering you to keep your distinctive of praise?”
Choose wisely – it really does matter.
