#2194 – A Praise Off

Good morning people who start a praise-off with other people

Nehemiah 12:24 (NIV) And the leaders of the Levites were Hashabiah, Sherebiah, Jeshua son of Kadmiel, and their associates, who stood opposite them to give praise and thanksgiving, one section responding to the other, as prescribed by David the man of God.

There is something infectious about people giving God praise and thanking Him for what He has done!

In this verse we see people standing opposite each other in a praise-off. One section started to give thanks and sing songs of praise, and then those opposite them responded by giving thanks and singing songs of praise.

This was something King David had set in place. But what motivated David to establish this practice?

I believe it was something birthed by God and it is still His plan today.

“What would happen – what is possible – if the children of God got together and had a ‘praise-off’?

I have been in meetings when people start to verbalise thanks to God for Who He is and what He has done. It sometimes starts slow as people don’t feel comfortable speaking out, but without exception, a positive momentum starts to take place and there is no end to what people can give thanks to God for. In fact, I have many times had to say “we’ll only have a couple more” because there was no end in sight. What a wonderful thing!!! What a God-honouring thing!!!

So, go on, have a praise-off with your friends!
