#2178 – Doing Your Part

Good morning people who get involved with the kingdom of God

Nehemiah 3:9-11 (NIV) Rephaiah son of Hur, ruler of a half-district of Jerusalem, repaired the next section. Adjoining this, Jedaiah son of Harumaph made repairs opposite his house, and Hattush son of Hashabneiah made repairs next to him. Malkijah son of Harim and Hasshub son of Pahath-Moab repaired another section and the Tower of the Ovens.

I have given you a few verses from Nehemiah 3, but one of the key things I noticed while reading this chapter was the amount of people that were involved in rebuilding the walls. This chapter names many people, working on many parts of the wall, all for a common purpose.

The truth is: the fulfilment of God’s intention will take many people working together.

“Are you actively involved in what God is doing?”

I have always loved 1 Corinthians 12 and I encourage you to read it today.

In summary, we are reminded, that just as a body has many parts, so does the Body of Christ. We are told God places the parts where He wants, He gifts them as He wants and He requires every part to do its job. We are left in no doubt that if one part suffers, the whole body suffers.

You are a part of the Body of Christ and you have a part to play. Redundancy and retirement are not part of God’s kingdom. There is something for you to do – something that will benefit the whole and fulfil God’s purpose on earth.

“Do you know what God has asked you to do? Are you doing it?”
