#2170 – Just Say No

Good morning people who do not let fear have control in their lives

Ezra 3:3 (NIV) Despite their fear of the peoples around them, they built the altar on its foundation and sacrificed burnt offerings on it to the Lord, both the morning and evening sacrifices.

These were people who had been in exile and were released to go back to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple of God. There were enemies around about who tried to strike fear into their hearts with harassment, accusation and abuse…yet they rebuilt the altar and sacrificed to God.

Sometimes we look at certain people who are ploughing ahead and achieving incredible things, and we can wrongly conclude that fear is never an issue or a challenge to them.

Now there are two sides to this coin.

Firstly, the Bible is clear that God is never the Author of fear. In fact, fear is a spiritual attack.

2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV) For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

But we also need to understand that the enemy will try to attack us with fear and its cousins (anxiety, worry, and harassment). And this is where the people of God stand up in the power of God and say, “No way – your access has been denied!”

The truth is, many people have fear trying to grab their attention, but men and women of God fulfil God’s will despite the attack of fear.

“What do we do despite the attack of fear?”

As we step out in obedience, the fear that will try and hold us captive will lose its power.

1 John 4:4 (NKJV) You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
