#2155 – Still Servants

Good morning people who are friends and servants of Jesus Christ

There is a depth of relationship with God that is available to us that is closer than just being a servant.

John 15:15 (NIV) I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from My Father I have made known to you.

Yet I find it interesting to note that many of the Epistles which are written by the Apostles are started like this:

James 1:1a (NIV) James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ…

The word ‘servant’ in both of these passages is the same original word. And that got me thinking.

Although we are invited to step into friendship with God, a true friend of God will always live as a servant of God.

Here’s what being a ‘servant’ means: one who gives himself up to another’s will, those whose service is used by Christ in extending and advancing His cause among mankind.

In essence, friends of God live to do His will, not their own. It’s not about fighting for our rights but living for the glory of God and the furtherance of His kingdom on the earth.

I pray that as friends of God, we never lose the sense of privilege it is to be a servant of God.
