#2138 – Receiving Ministry

Good morning people who receive God’s love through the testings of life

Matthew 4:1,11 (NKJV) Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil…Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.

I find it interesting that Jesus needed to be ministered to after He was tempted. Let’s make sure we don’t miss this.

When people give in to temptation and make a wrong choice, often this will result in a time of repentance and ministry. We often measure ‘the bigger the sin, the more ministry and help is needed’.

But Jesus needed ministry just because of the intensity of the temptation.

“Father, what are you saying to us today?”

Walking through life in a God-honouring way is not always easy due to the intensity of the spiritual battles we have to fight. Overcoming temptation can be intense – it was for Jesus too. Let’s never forget that temptation wouldn’t be temptation unless it was tempting.

Today I believe God is saying that we need to be open to being ministered to by God and those who serve Him, yes even after an intense time of spiritual battles and overcoming temptation. This is not a formula, but a thought I feel God is speaking to me about for us all.

For you, this might mean soaking in worship for an extended period of time. It might mean soaking in God’s Word for an extended period of time. It might mean lying down on a bed or sitting in a chair and allowing God to love on you and encourage you. It might mean asking someone to pray for you and minister to you…

…but of this I’m sure, we need to be ministered to as we walk through life.

“What is God saying to you today? Will you act on God’s loving invitation to be ministered to?”
