#2111 – Now or Later

Good morning people who trust the timing of God

2 Thessalonians 1:4-7 (NIV) Therefore, among Gods churches we boast about your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and trials you are enduring. All this is evidence that Gods judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering. God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with His powerful angels.

We live in a time when there is a false belief that bad things don’t happen to good people. This is simply not what Jesus taught. In fact, one of the guarantees for followers of Christ is hardship.

Another doctrine we need to be careful about preaching is that every difficulty will be resolved this side of the grave. Sometimes it won’t be.

The good news is we can still honour God and be partakers of the fullness of His goodness – regardless of the outcome of our situations. We can honour Him even if we die still waiting for the promise to be fulfilled.

Hebrews 11:39-40 (NIV) These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised, since God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.

Let’s not lose heart. Let’s not live just for the here and now. Let’s keep our confidence strong in God Himself.

If God hasn’t answered your prayer in the way you want or even believe it should be answered, know that He is faithful and He does have something better planned for us.
