#2109 – Spiritual Maturity

Good morning people who love God and love people

2 Thessalonians 1:3 (NIV) We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing.

Paul, Silas and Timothy are writing to the church of the Thessalonians. A parallel for us today would be for our pastors and leaders to be writing about us as members of a local church. Now let’s look at what they said.

There was a sense of celebration about the people in the Thessalonian church because they were spiritually growing up.

We see this evidenced by their faith growing more and more. They were Believers who were increasing in their trust and confidence in God and His goodness. They were maturing in their understanding of God and His Word.

We also see the evidence of them spiritually growing up by their increasing love for one another. People in the church in Thessalonica had a revelation that love for God translated to love for each other. They knew that loving Jesus and loving His Bride went hand in hand. They sought out ways to add value to, and be a blessing to, others in the church.

As a result of this increasing spiritual maturity, Paul, Silas and Timothy gave thanks to God.

“Do your church leaders give thanks to God for you? Is your faith in God and your love for other Believers growing to a point that others notice it?”
