#2096 – Servant Leader

Good morning people who are secure enough to serve

John 13:12-17(NIV) When He had finished washing their feet, He put on His clothes and returned to His place. Do you understand what I have done for you?He asked them. You call Me Teacherand Lord, and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one anothers feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

The King of all glory chose to humble Himself and wash His disciples’ feet. After this, Jesus made it clear to them that He was setting an example for them to follow.

Today He is making it clear to all of us that this is our standard for living and leading.

Jesus did not cease being ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord’ while He was washing His disciples’ feet. And I think this is the power of His example.

Jesus went on to say that a servant is not greater than his master. This is talking about Jesus’ disciples and it is talking about us. We are the servants and He is the Master. If He can humbly serve those He leads, so can we.

Now He finishes with the wonderful promise of blessing…if we follow His example.

“So, will you be a servant leader today?”
