#2055 – Distortion Destroys

Good morning people who heed God’s Word and live freely

2 Peter 3:15-16 (NIV) Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.

Some people innocently distort the Word of God through ignorance. This tells me that it is imperative that we seek to understand the Word of God accurately and ask the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth. This is why we need to regularly hear the Word of God being preached by godly men and women who know how to correctly handle and preach God’s precious Word. It’s time to move forward from ignorance concerning what the Word of God says and what it means.

Some people intentionally distort the Word of God because they don’t like what it says. For some, if the Word of God doesn’t condone their lifestyle and choices, they take scripture out of context and distort it to back up what they are going to do anyway. Sadly, some people even go as far as to blatantly not accept a scripture because they don’t like it or they have questions why God would say what He did.

But here is the important truth I pray every person clearly hears today:

Distortion and misuse of the Word of God – innocently or intentionally –  is always to our own destruction.

Oh for people to have a revelation that God’s way is always best! Oh for people to have a revelation that God is always working for our best! Oh for people to have a revelation that God is the Giver of good gifts and the devil is the thief, the killer and the destroyer!

I beg you not to be destroyed by a lack of acceptance of the truth of God’s infallible Word. Accept it today, embrace it fully, and live free.
