#2020 – What Is True

Good morning people who choose to think about the right things 

Our thoughts are so important. What we think about determines our view of God. What we think about determines how we live.

Our thoughts are so important. We choose the source of our thoughts. We choose what we continue to think about.

There is a very well-known verse that speaks directly to the type of things we should choose to think about. I would like to meditate on this.

Philippians 4:8 (NIV) Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

It’s pretty clear isn’t it? Yet at times, we don’t think about things that fit into any of these categories (let’s be honest). But today, God wants to bring us back to these things because He desires us to be free in Him.

The first category of things we should choose to think about is whatever is true. This word means ‘not concealing (hidden or false), loving the truth, speaking the truth, truthful’.

There is so much gossip, hearsay, conspiracy theories, slander and false philosophies being pushed through so many avenue, and many Christians take as ‘gospel’ what is said by the media. Christian leaders are being slandered and falsely represented in our media, yet many fellow Christians take the distorted bait hook, line and sinker. Then they become judge and jury and pass judgement on God’s people.

Firstly, most of it is not true – the media thrives on gossip and a ‘good story’. Secondly, we are clearly told not to judge lest we be judged. It’s time to think on things that are true; things that we unequivocally know are true.

“So my friends, what will you choose to think about? The truth is what God says in His infallible Word. Will you choose to think about whatever is true?”
