#2013 – Change Or Trust

Good morning people who change what they can and trust when they can’t

Father God has given us the ability to change some things. If this is possible in a difficult situation you face right now, then use your God-given ability and make the required changes. This can include things such as exercise, eating right, working diligently, applying for that job or taking time to rest.

But there are some things that we do not have the ability to change. This may include some health challenges, friends and loved ones making unwise and destructive choices, the global economic crisis, the state of our government and country or our future in light of all of these things.

And it’s these things that are beyond our control that God invites us to trust Him as He is our loving heavenly Father. If we cannot change something (including another person’s free choice) then we shouldn’t worry about it. Worrying simply uses up the vital energy we need to walk through a situation in God’s grace.

Instead of worrying, let’s be people who pray and declare our confidence in our great God.

Philippians 4:6 (NIV) Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

See, the thanksgiving is not about the difficult or seemingly impossible situation, but about our faithful Father Who is always sovereign in the life of a submitted Believer who chooses to meditate on His Word. And here’s His promise to us when we pray, trust and believe:

Philippians 4:7 (NIV) And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

It’s time to pray. It’s time to mediate. It’s time to give thanks. It’s time to stay in faith.

“Will you?”
