#1267 – Knowledge of God

Good morning people confident in God’s goodness,

2 Peter 1:3 His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His glory and goodness.

Your confidence to believe God HAS GIVEN all you need is linked to HOW MUCH YOU KNOW GOD.

If someone you didn’t know saw you at a restaurant and said to you, “I’ll pay that for you, you can go, I’ll take care of it”, you would be apprehensive because what if they didn’t pay? What if you left and they weren’t good for their word? You would be left wondering because you don’t know if they are trustworthy.

How about if it was someone you had met once or twice and you assumed they were trustworthy. You might have a little more confidence…maybe.

But how about if that person was a close friend with integrity…and money? You could leave confidently because they are trustworthy. You can leave not having yet seen the evidence of their word, but equally confident your dinner will be paid for, because you know them, and therefore trust them.

We can trust God to be good for His Word.

I’ve got to say that again a little louder: WE CAN TRUST GOD TO BE GOOD FOR HIS WORD!!!

A key phrase in 2 Peter 1:1-11 is: in the knowledge of God (three times in this short passage and a constant theme of the Apostles throughout the New Testament.)

Every Believer knows God, but there is always more of Who God is to discover.

The more you know God, the more you will trust God, even when you do not yet see the evidence of what He has said.

God is good for His Word.
